Breakfast

DSCN8654-1

Ginny wanted to see the green tomato marmalade spread on something, so here it is, on my breakfast sandwich.

DSCN8655

Covered with slices of cheese, and with a cup of tea.

Some people don’t understand the combination of marmalade and cheese. Some people do. Among those who do, there may be a sub category holding on to the firm conviction that the marmalade should be spread on top of the cheese, not under it. My answer to that is: When the marmalade turned out a bit runny, it has its practical advantages to put the cheese on top! Other than that, it does not really matter much to me in which order I put them on…

To which category do you belong?

I love green tomato chutney - I guess this is similar? Sounds delicious.

CambridgeLady, the recipe is in the previous post. I never made chutney but that I think is a lot more spicy. The tomato marmalade is really more like orange or lemon marmalade.

Thanks for the picture, and I love your tray, too! Is that butter on the bread under the marmalade? It all looks so good. I would think to put it straight on the bread, as it would absorb a bit. If you put it on top of the cheese, it would be a slippery deal to eat!

never had cheese and maramalade, but am open to trying it. did you put toast it after you put the chees on or before? looks really good to me and makes perfect sense to put the marmalade under the cheese so it will hold it in.

Yes, Ginny, there is some margarine too under the marmalade. That too is "a matter of taste", of course :)

And Sandra, this bread was not toasted at all, because it's not the shape that fits into the toaster.

I am not sure I like tomatoes into a marmalade but love cheese maybe that will kill the tomato taste.

Love tomatoes. Love cheese. Enjoy marmalade. Tomato Marmalade?? With cheese - perhaps. But, hey, why would I try when I can have Marmite and Peanut Butter?

GB, thanks to you at least I know what Marmite and peanutbutter taste like. ;) I found I liked that combination much better than I thought I would. But for some reason, not for breakfast! It's an evening taste for me!
