Hi!

DSCN7371

Last week while my brother was here for a few days, among all the other things we had to do, we also took a little time to visit a museum exhibiting the works of a local artist, Uno Axelsson (now deceased), who made the most fantastic wooden sculptures. I will be showing more of them in posts to come.

Uno’s art often started as nodules, obstinately growing against the grain. Large knots and gnarly trunks that for some reason did not stretch straight for the sun, are typical of pieces that inspired Uno’s fantasy. Such natural mistakes were the platform on which Uno created unique artistic treasures to wonder and delight.

Over the weekend I’ve been very tired, so have been withdrawing into my shell and taking things very slow…

To give you an idea of the size of the snail…
(It is made all in one piece.)

I agree with Sandra, and hey, looking at her photo, she sure has changed since I last saw her!! I think she could use a trip to the spa! Too many of our blogger friends are leaving. But I love this!! I love the snail, he's very slow like me! The man looks like his face is made from the underneath of a giant mushroom! Can't wait to see more, and I hope you get lots of restorative rest this weekend.

I love wood. Carvers and wood turners and carpenters have a special place on my admiration scale.

Dawn Treader...I just left you a comment but it looks like it didn't get recorded so if this is a duplicate...just delete it!

I have seen bowls turned from tree trunks etc...but never anything as creative as these pieces of art. Thanks for letting me know about your post.

Dan
