Quotation of the Week (28/2010)

DSCN6404

“Gracious acceptance is an art which most of us never bother to cultivate. We think that we have to learn how to give, but we forget about accepting things, which can be much harder than giving.”

Alexander McCall Smith
(Love Over Scotland)

The couple in the picture are complete strangers to me. I took the photo at the celebration of our National Day in June. This couple standing right next to me started dancing although no one else was doing it. The shot is straight from the camera, no cropping or editing. They saw me taking the photo, but just smiled…

What a cool shot, and they certainly had gracious acceptance of it!

Well, that is odd. Blogger said that it accepted my comment but it didn't appear. If it turns up somewhere else it'll look odd.

Anyway I said that I was very much in agreement with AMcS's statement.

The photo was one of those pictures every photographer dreams of capturing. I have been taking photographs for about 60 years and I can only recall two photographs that I have taken which have captured that magical, intimate, unposed moment of portraiture in the way that you have captured it (excluding photos of children which seem almost automatically to have a certain unposed magic). I think it is one of the best photographs of it's genre I've ever seen on a blog.

Ah. I've just realised that you have started moderating your comments. Please reject the first comment I sent and use the second.

Thanks to all of you for your photo comments.

GB - Sorry! Yes I've been experimenting with the time limit for comment moderation. I had it on 2 days now. But yesterday I was away from home most of the day and forgot to check for unmoderated comments... Not good. I think I'll go back to a 7 days limit. I deleted your first "disappearing" comment per request.

That is a good great shot! I believe your right, it is a lot easier to give than to receive!

She was blogging about your stink bug!! LOL
Have a nice weekend!
