Walking Into the Future

I'm feeling relieved just being able to go for a walk again, without having to keep my eyes fixed on the ground every step of the way to watch out carefully exactly where I put my feet.

Even the withered remains of last year's verdure are a welcome sight as they turn up again from under the snow.

Have to steel myself against the curious looks from passers-by, though. What on earth is that crazy woman with the camera finding so interesting about the old stone wall surrounding the cemetery?

One of the advantages of living in Napier is that tourists abound so everyone just assumes I'm a tourist when wielding a camera. In Stornoway people just assume I'm L'homme bizarre avec la barbe grise. Fair enough. They are probably correct.

GB - So people in Stornoway go around thinking up long complicated aliases in French for their neighbours? Well, that explains a lot! (LOL)

Here, too, I feel a lot more "free" with the camera on a summer day, because then one does not stand out among the tourists. In a dull season like we're in now, though... between winter and spring... that's when I feel those weird/curious looks...

Perhaps you inspire them to take a closer look. Curiousity is contagious.
