When I was 16, and a new "convert", I went to the library and looked rather randomly through their selection of theology. A book by Eckhart was one of the first of that kind of literature I ever read! (Had I asked someone's advice, they'd probably have suggested something easier.) I don't remember any details (this quote I found on the internet just recently), but it left an impression.
